Motherhood sessions will always hold a special place in my heart. I hear so many mothers talk about how they’re the ones who take photos of their children but are rarely in the photo with them. There are endless reasons why that’s the case and I am certainly guilty of that myself. But by getting in the frame with them, the images will be meaningful to you now, but the real payoff is how much they will mean to your children when they are older.

My perspective about being in the frame with my children completely changed after losing my father. When you’ve lost anyone you’re close to, the idea of never being able to see that person is painful, but having an image of that person can mean everything. Those photos of my dad mean the world to me. So despite how you may feel about being in the image, think of it as a gift you’re giving to your child who will one day appreciate that image more than you could imagine.

So I’m on a mission to help mothers get in photos with their children. I really want to change the narrative of not feeling “enough” to be in a picture at any given time with them. From now until Mother’s Day (May 9, 2021), I will be offering Motherhood Petite sessions. Each session will be taken the hour before sunset and will last 30-45 minutes. You will receive an online gallery with the best 20 images from your session. If you would like to book, please reach out to me and I will get your session scheduled. I will also be accepting nominations for a free session for a mama who goes above and beyond and deserves to have a motherhood session. If you know someone, please fill out my Contact form and let me know!

After checking out some of the images from my most recent motherhood sessions, I’d love to share a link from Renee McDaniel, a fellow photography from Manhattan, Kansas, who has a beautiful post about documenting family relationships and connections.

Thank you for checking out my post on motherhood petite sessions. Make sure to book yours or nominate a deserving mama this month or next month to get images done in time for Mother’s Day! Also, don’t forget to check out Renee’s post with beautiful storytelling images documenting family relationships and connections: Manhattan, Kansas Family Photographer

Gorgeous series of images and fully agree that us moms need to get in front of the camera more often!
